Everybody needs a lift every now and then and Jeff Wood, pilot and Tom Wood Automotive President, is continuing the tradition started by his father Tom Wood. The tradition, donating his Cessna Citation aircraft to transport Special Olympics athletes to and from the 2010 Special Olympics in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Tom Wood Auto Group is honored to take part in the Citation Special Olympics Airlift. Participating in the airlift is a labor of love for Cessna and it's a way for Jeff Wood, as a Citation owner, to give a special experience to some very special people. The bond developed between pilots and passengers is hard to describe, but that bond easily explains the magnitude of what has become the largest peacetime airlift in the world.

This tradition began in 1985 with two Citations transporting athletes to the International Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Air Lift has grown steadily every four years. The 2010 Citation Special Olympics Airlift, is the sixth to be coordinated by Cessna. Over 2,000 athletes will be transported to and from the Special Olympics U.S. National Games, requiring a volunteer fleet of over 325 Citations. As a part of that volunteer fleet, Tom Wood pilots will deliver athletes to Lincoln, Nebraska on July 17th and will return them home on July 4th.
