Tom Wood Toyota is extremely proud to partner with Toyota, Duke Energy, Sumimoto Electric and Energy Systems Network on a Smart Charging Technology pilot program. During a kick-off event held at the Tom Wood Collision Center last Wednesday, five Duke Energy customers were each presented with the keys to a new Toyota Prius Plug In equipped with special communication technologies.

These specially selected customers will drive these cars for the next year, and in turn will test advanced technologies that allow them to communicate with the utility company and provide information regarding optimal charging times, energy cost rates and other varied information. They will also be able to schedule charging remotely through an app developed for the iPad specifically for this project.

Tom Wood Toyota will provide maintenance and driver support for the vehicles for the duration of the program, and Tom Wood Automotive President Jeff Wood and Tom Wood Toyota General Manager Brian Hefner were on hand for the kick-off presentation. Tom Wood Toyota Sales Consultant Robbie Rodriguez did a thorough walk-around presentation of the Plug In Prius for WISH-TV and Fox59 news crews, and the assembled guests.

Although the Plug In Prius is not yet available to the general public here in Indiana, Tom Wood Toyota in Indianapolis has over 30 Prius vehicles in stock, including the Prius Hybrid Two, Prius Hybrid Three, Prius Hybrid Four, Prius c, and the Prius vStop in today and see how a Prius Hybrid can work for you!
